Some prefer to let it fade completely and start fresh with a new design.

How long does permanent makeup take to heal? +

Initial healing takes about 7 to 14 days, but complete healing takes 4 to 6 weeks. During the first week, you may experience some redness, swelling, and tenderness in the treated area. The color will appear darker and more intense than the final result. Around day 3 to 5, the area will start to flake and peel as it heals. It is very important not to pick at the flaking skin. By week two, the flaking is usually complete and the color looks lighter. Over the next few weeks, the true color develops as your skin fully heals. We schedule your touch-up appointment at the 6 to 8 week mark when healing is complete.

Can you get permanent makeup while pregnant? +

We do not recommend getting permanent makeup while pregnant. Although there is no definitive research proving harm, we prefer to be cautious during pregnancy. The numbing agents we use have not been fully studied for safety during pregnancy. There is also a small risk of infection with any procedure that breaks the skin, and your immune system works differently when you are pregnant. Hormone changes during pregnancy can also affect how your skin accepts and retains pigment. The results may not turn out as expected. We recommend waiting until after you have given birth and finished breastfeeding. Your permanent makeup will still be here when you are ready.

Can you get permanent makeup while breastfeeding? +

We recommend waiting until you have finished breastfeeding before getting permanent makeup. While the risk is likely very small, we do not have enough research to confirm that the pigments and numbing agents are completely safe for nursing babies. The ingredients could potentially pass through breast milk in trace amounts. Additionally, your hormones are still fluctuating while breastfeeding, which can affect how your skin heals and holds pigment. You may not get the best results if you proceed during this time. We would rather you wait a few months and get beautiful, lasting results than rush the process. Once you have weaned your baby, we will be happy to help you achieve your permanent makeup goals.

Which is better: microblading or permanent makeup? +

Both microblading and permanent makeup are types of cosmetic tattooing for eyebrows, so the question is really about technique. Microblading uses a manual hand tool to create hair-like strokes. Permanent makeup powder brows use a machine to create a soft, filled-in look. Microblading works best on normal to dry skin and creates a very natural, feathered appearance.
